082. Katniss’s son was color-blind. His mind would change what was supposed to be green into red, so he was terrified of the woods and nature: He’d imagine the red of the leaves and grass would come from the blood of those buried under the earth, sucked by the roots and ending up at the tip of the branches. When he told his mother this, she said, looking into his teary eyes: “Don’t be afraid of the dead, son. Those people who are resting under our feet died for us, for you. They’re happier now than when they were alive. They will not hurt you; they will protect you.” Eventually the boy learned to love nature as much as his mother did, and every time he would step on a patch of red grass, he’d silently thank those who died for him. 

I do have to add that this gave me the chills for a few seconds :x
